Joden Savanne is located in the district Para. On this tour you will learn more about the Jews who escaped from Europe around 1650 and settled in this area. During the Second World War, this area served as a camp for political prisoners.

The tour starts at 9:00 am, where you will be picked up at the indicated location. During this tour you will see: the ruins of the synagogue, the cemetery and the healing water spring. Along the way the guide will introduce some events of this historic settlement and the unique graveyard in the jungle of Suriname. Jodensavanna, the peaceful surrounding and the water spring in this area will leave you with a lasting memory. In the afternoon around 12:00-13:00 pm you will head towards Powakka where we have Indigenous villages to have your lunch. After lunch you can go for a swim in a creek with dark brown water, sunbathing, dip your toes or take a walk along the beach. These creeks with dark brown water is very popular among the Surinamese. At the end of the afternoon around 16:00 pm you will return to Paramaribo.
