The Sintiadam expedition (Gran Rio) is an adventurous tour through the jungle in
Upper Suriname. This area is inhabited by the Maroons who still live according to
ancient traditions. You make spectacular boat trips, forest walks and a mountain climb.
An expedition in the pristine Amazon rainforest in the Gran Rio River is a true
experience for nature lovers who dare to take on a challenge!
During the canoe trip you will pass many spectacular rapids. The beautiful and firm
jungle walks will be greatly rewarded with a breathtaking panorama over the Amazon
forest. On this tour, far away from civilization, you will enjoy the overwhelming flora and
fauna. The Sintia Dam Expedition is highly recommended for adventurers and nature
lovers!
The special thing about this expedition is that after passing by Kosindo and Awarradam
Lodge (last inhabited area) we can spot a lot of wildlife such as jaguars, otters, macaws,
many caimans, anacondas, Tucan, cockroaches and much more. Because there are no
more villages ahead, you have more chances of wildlife. However, no guarantee!
And at last you’ll also have some sightseeing at the Afobaka dam.
If this tour goes around September, October or November, the boat trips will take a little
longer because the river is low (dry season).
Price per person for the 6 day expedition: EURO 790 per person
